Homemade Lavender Essential Oil Tutorial

As a Single mother of two children, as you can imagine I have an extremely busy schedule. I try my best to find things to do with my children while spending quality time with them at the same time. My daughter and I are truly fascinated with trying to make things homemade. With some simple items,  we were able to make homemade Lavender Essential Oils.

What you will need:
  • Paper towels
  • Sieve
  • Jar and lid
  • Bouquet of fresh Lavender
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil cold press
First Step: First my daughter and I pulled all the lavender buds off on to a paper towel. To easily remove the buds from the steam; start at the end of the steam and go backwards toward the buds and the come slid right off. Make sure you have a nice pile of fresh lavender buds.

Second Step: Roll up the paper towel with the lavender buds. Utilize the paper towel to help funnel the fresh buds into the jar. Once you have filled your jar with the lavender buds then you can proceed to add the olive oil. Fill the olive oil to cover the lavender completely. You do not want to leave any lavender exposed to air which can cause it to spoil. After the lavender is cover in oil make sure you seal the jar shut.

Third Step: The hardest part you have to wait. I recommend at least a week for the lavender fragrance to fuse with the oil. I personally just waited just about two weeks.

Fourth Step: After waiting for the fragrance to build in the oil you can remove the lavender buds from the oil. I held my sieve over measure cup with a spout and poured the lavender over the sieve. Then I pressed the lavender buds against the sieve to squeeze out as much oil as I can.  Once I was done removing the lavender buds from the oil I poured it back in to the jar. Using a measuring cup with a spout makes it easy to transfer the oil back in to the jar. Now reseal the jar with a lid and store for many uses.

While there are many uses for Essential Oils,  I personally prefer to use them for a sleep aid and to relax, but like I said there are many uses for Essential Oils. Lavender Oil can help with sunburns, sooth insect bites, tension headaches, reduces scaring, and so much more. This step by step process can be used when trying to make other Essentials Oils. Do research,  there are so many quick was to make oils homemade. I am providing one simple way of many.

Blog Author Introduction...

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jacqueline, but I usually go by Jacqie. I am a single mother of two great children. My son the animal lover, who is just about 12 years old and my little mermaid, she is 8 years old. We are the three musketeers lol. We also share our lives with a little chi wawa, a fat cat, two turtles and a snake. We love to travel, camp, garden, cook and many other things together. I inspire my children to always explore and try new things as I continue to do through my life.

After hearing great things about blogs, I decided it was time to start my very own blog.  I am always wide open to exploring new brands, products, and just about anything. As for those of you who know me already know how I love to share the things I try and like. So instead of just sharing by word of mouth with friends in family, blogging will allow me to share with everyone. Happy blogging everyone.
